This project is the result of a workshop taught by Prof. Laura Forlano at the IIT Institute of Design, Spring of 2012. The workshop was structured as an informal collaboration between ID and Not Far From the Tree (Toronto).
The project goal was to envision possibilities to apply human-computer and computer-computer concepts within the context of urban fruit-picking/growing. We were asked to understand in which ways the organization could expand their network while fostering relationships amongst participants.
As part of our research process, we reached out to local organizations and interviewed individuals working on urban agriculture and community gardening. Based on the data collected through primary and secondary research the team developed a set of design principles, recommendations and a concept exploration called the Urban Jar.
